Venasque has a town center of about 50 houses. Occasionally, horses still drink water from the town fountain. The town has three restaurants, a bakery, post office, library, and a grocery store. Local artists’ paintings are available from their studios and at the tourist office. We have several potters, a weaver, and an internationally exhibited metal sculptor. A number of the residents are writers and musicians. However, in contrast to Gordes, the town has no tourist shops for knick-knacks.
Village inhabitants are friendly and enjoy long hikes through the countryside. One may join in an evening game of boules at the top of the village adjacent to the massive stone towers with awesome vistas.
The sunset views are spectacular. The town is quiet at night. This is true Provencal life at a leisurely pace, yet we always marvel at how full our life is during our stays.
